At The Green Holiday Cottages, we are dedicated to sustainable tourism and protecting the natural heritage of our surroundings. We are situated within the Mourne, Gullion and Strangford UNESCO Global Geopark. The current business was established in 2017 on the site of a 1740s corn and flax mill. Our renovation and rebuild have carefully preserved the original footprint and created a business on what was a derelict and abandoned site.
Sustainability is at the heart of our business, with three key areas of focus: monitoring energy use, improving waste management, and protecting biodiversity. We will work closely with guests and partners using Leave No Trace principles to underpin our day-to-day work.
Continued work with the local community remains an important aspect of our business and collaborating with local schools and charities allows us to share The Green — giving access to green space and opportunities to highlight sustainable practices that protect both people and the planet.
