Well, February went in a flash didn’t it? I think that was partly to do with the unseasonably good weather. Although it was very enjoyable it does make you think a little more about climate change and the impact that our lifestyle is having on the planet. (Well, it made me think a little more about it at least!). It’s a huge issue sometimes a bit hard to know how you can make a difference? Watch this space as we are going to try a bit harder.

The Kiln which is the fourth of the houses is finished and in order to have guests to stay it needs to be certified by Northern Ireland Tourist Board. So we had the pleasure of Niambh from NITB out to visit us. She makes sure that we’ve meet all the necessary standards for the tourist board. I’m glad to say that we have. So now our bed occupancy is up to 21/22 which is great. Although making 21/22 beds in one go, well that’s a different story! It makes The Green Holiday Cottages a desirable destination for group bookings. So reunions, family events or weddings  are all much easier to plan if everyone is in the one place. We have our first wedding event booked which is hugely exciting both for us and of course the Bride and Groom.  One thing I will say  –  it’s much more exciting planning a wedding  for someone else than the stress of planning your own!!

I mentioned groups staying and we were delighted to welcome our first church retreat from Lisburn and North Down over half term.

The ladies had a brilliant few days enjoying being together in the peace and tranquillity of The Green. Using The Barn as their meeting space they enjoyed having a communal space over the weekend.

A retail therapy trip in to Kilkeel seemed to go down a treat and they thoroughly enjoyed their trip to Cunningham’s Bistro for dinner on Saturday evening.

We’ve also had a few birthday parties celebrated at The Green. The Fairy Forest has proved a very exciting development. The Green Fairies are all so busy at Fairy School and keeping an eye on life in the forest that we don’t always see them face to face but we definitely know they are about.

It was great to meet up with other Tourism Businesses at Whitewater Brewery and Life Adventures in Castlewellan this month as well. It’s good having a network of people who are also in the industry so the newbies (like me) don’t feel so out of their depth. Also had a spin on an E-Bike – a definite for the Easter holidays! White Water Breweries are just about to start their brewery tours. Two brilliant activities for our guests to enjoy! Looking forward to March.
